I have this really wierd situation. Whenever I attempt to restore data from a tape, I get this message to catalog the media first because it does not exist in the catalogs.
The LTO5 tapes I am using are relatively new. They were imported, inventoried, and cataloged when I installed them. Several of them have been written to at least twice by now.
I did some research for solution and came across TECH16628 and followed it's instructions. I will note that there is one step the author forgot to mention, so here is a quick recap of what I did using the author's instructions plus my addition: Under the Media tab, I moved the tapes to Retired Media set. Deleted the tapes. Under the Devices tab, I inventoried the tapes and re-cataloged them. For the 5 LTO5 tapes I had, the process worked "Successfully."
Unfortunately, when I attempted to retry the restore from one of the tapes, again I got the infamous you-need-to-catalog-this-media.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I can resolve this situation?
I am using BE2010 R3 on a Dell Windows 2008 R2 server with a RAID and TL4000, which has an internal LTO5 and LTO4 tape drives.
Any suggestions/help to resolve this problem is greatly appreciated!
