Long-term storage

Hello,

I'm looking for a best practice solution.  We maintain our data locally for a period of 6 months.  Any data past 6 months is sent away for offsite long-term storage.  I backup the .bkf files for a particular month to tape.  The files are then removed from the storage device and the tapes are sent away.  Is there a better, more efficient way to do this or are we doing it the best way?
