I am in a serious predicament. I need to get back all my staff files from my only backup which is old but better than nothing. The problem is the backup exec job that backs up my staff files deletes the files once the Nasbox is full. This means we effectively only keep 3 weeks of historic backups using backup exec. Fortunately the Nasbox is a Buffalo Nas which does not really delete the files but moves them to a trash bin.
I have successfully recovered the folder containing all the backup files that I want from the trash bin but I do not know how to tell Symantec to take account of these files and restore them to where I want them to go.
I read something about cataloging but I am not sure how to start.
I have on my nasbox a folder called "2010 Staff Data" and it backs up to this folder and I can restore data to the data server from that location. The recovered folder is called "Rescued Data 2010 Staff Data" and resides at the same level in the folder structure. Both of these folders reside in the root of the UNC path of \\nasbox-3\share.
How do I tell Backup Exec to read the data in "Rescued Data 2010 Staff Data"?
Please can someone help me now - I am desperate.
