Upgrade BE-Agent after SP2 Installation " a must have " ?

Simple Question

Do I have to update the agents inside of the VMware-VMs, after upgrade the Backup Exec Media Server 2012 to SP2 ??
Is this necessary or can I backup VM ( without GRT) with the old BE-Agent ?
