Final error: 0xe000fe2d - The backup of the item is bad.

I've seen this error reported elsewhere on the Symantec forums, but they all deal with MSExchange or Sharepoint, which we don't have have, just basic  files that are backed up.

Runing: SBEXEC_for_Windows Server, v12.0 Rev 1364, with Service Pack 4

We're getting this error during restore attempts:

This occurs on any file in the Media set (Backup2Disk, or B2D, file "B2D000022.bkf).  The .bkf file is 242.2 GB in size.

What, if any, solutions might there be toward recovering backed-up files in this media set B2D .bkf file
