I have a question regarding a legacy instalation of BEX 2012.
I have a site in which we have replaced an entire BEX installation with Netbackup and 5230 Appliances. The customer wishes to retain a minimal amount of BEX kit and licenses in order to allow them to restore from the old tapes if required.
They were using the VMware agent to backup the VMware environment, in addition to Windows and Linux clients. My question is around the requirement for licensing going forward. They will obviously need to retain the Server license - no problems there. They won't need any Library Expansion Options as they can have a library with a single drive with no licensing. They can restore the Windows data directly back to the backup server so do not need any Windows Remote Agents. This leaves the following:
Linux Agents - WIll I need to keep one Linux Remote Agent to allow restore to a Linux server ?
VMware Agent - Do I need to keep a single VMware agent or can I restore a backup taken through the VMware agent directly back to the BEX Server (for file restore not for full VM restore) ?
Many Thanks,
AJ.
