Hi all. My BE media server is also a 2008 R2 Hyper-V host machine. On it are 4 VMs, all 2008 R2. One is a domain controller, another is Exchange 2010. I have both the Agent for Apps & Databases and the Agent for Hyper-V installed. And I have the RAWS agent on each VM. I create a backup job which in the selections list says "Fully Selected" and under that I see the volumes like C: and F:, Utility Partition, System State plus other items, and at the bottom it says Hyper-V. Drilling down, it appears everything (all VMs) are checked. Does this mean then that all my VMs are backed up to the point where I can restore individual files, AD objects, and Exchange objects from within those VMs?
By default, all the GRT-related settings in the job properties are enabled it seems so I imagine the answer is yes, however what confuses me is the way BE displays servers and jobs.
According to this job creation screen, it appears everything is backed up (the entire physical server, all VMs. Yet in the Servers list, where it shows the Hyper-V host and then the 4 VMs as a list of 5 servers, only the physical host server says it has done a backup. The four VMs just say "Never Backed Up".
What do I make of this?
