BE 2012: Reclaim Deduplication disk space by deleting device?

I need a solution

Hi all.  In a previous thread I had inquired about reclaiming disk space used by dedupe, but in fact since the one I ran was just testing and I made the mistake of putting the dedupe folder onto the same volume as was being backed up, I'd now like to just completely remove all dedupe folder and data, and the device as configured in Storage called "Deduplication Disk Storage 0001", from the server. At a later date once I have some actual external disk storage to work with I'll recreaet a dedupe setup using that.

So my goal of course is not to compact or reclaim space within the dedupe folder, but to get it off the system entirely, reclaiming all space used by dedupe. Can this be done simply by deleting the "Deduplication Disk Storage 0001" device from the Storage tab, and it will then remove the folder and contents, or is there more to this?  I am concerned that by doing this, it will leave the dedupe folder contents there, and if I were then to manually delete that dedupe folder, would BE become confused and start prompting me for a missing dedupe folder because iot has some lingering reference in the main BE database or something.

Thank you.
