Backup Exec - prematurely aborted job - will (parts of) the previous, overwritten job be available?

I need a solution

Hi there,

Last night our servers collapsed during a full back up job (on a hp ultrium 4 tape), thanks to the fact that two hard disks crashed at the same time. All virtual server data was gone immediately, including the backup software.

After reinstalling the virtual servers and the backup software, we loaded the tape, which appeared to contain the aborted job. Therfore we decided to start restoring an older dataset, which succeeded.

However the overwritten data set contains some (just a couple) specific files that weren't on the restored set, that we would love to recover. Normally, previous data on the tape would have been overwritten, however in this case the new dataset contained less information. Is there any chance to get acces to that data?

Thank you for any answer.

I think I've found a similar question with some answers:
