Backup Exec Exchange Recommendation

In Backup Exec 2014 Admin Guide under Exchange Agent section, it is recommended to 'Make Write Cache unavailable on the SCSI controller.'.

Our Exchange Server is a VM in a VMware environment, data held on a storage array. VMware strongly recommends not disabling write cache on a Storage Array.

Would disabling write cache in Windows, have the same effect does anyone know?
