I have BE 11 and I have contacts in the notification tab to sent e mails when the job is finished. I can send a test message and get something but when the backup job completes I get no notification. Any ideas?

Archive Backup-to-Disk Folder to Tape
I need a solution
Hey All,
I am new to BE (well coming back to it after a few years) so sorry if I use the wrong terminology here. We are using BE 2010 R3 (13.0)
We have got a series of backup-to-disk backups that I need to get archived to tape so I can design a new backup strategy and just wanted to see the best way to do it?
I thought it would be as simple as creating a backup job to backup the folders to a tape using the 'Back up and delete the files' method, however I am worried that will delete the 'Change.cfg' and 'Folder.cfg' files which BE needs? I also read on a guide (http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH176061) that said you should not copy the backup-to-disk files, so that worried me a bit thinking I might not be doing it right if I just do a backup job?
My plan is design a new strategy that duplicates a backup sets to run the backups to tape after the to disk, but I just need to clear the historical stuff first the best way possible.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

DLO 7 client install fails
I need a solution
When trying to deploy DLO 7 client it fails with a message in command prompt :
C:\Data\.nfs is too far in the Future
ENVIROMENT:
DLO 7
Lotus note 8.X/8.5.X
Window 7/XP/ Vista
CAUSE:
This issue occured because the operating system date is configured in the past or the databases timestamp has been set to a futur date, this can be confirmed by entries in :Log.nfs
SOLUTION:
1-Run as Admin the following commands against the databe(s) concerned :
nfixup -F <database>.nsf
ncompact -c -d -i <database>.nsf
nupdall -R <database>.nsf
2-Reboot
3-Try new install

Archiving Option for Exchange DAG Exchange not working
I need a solution
In my organization we have a Exchange 2010 in DAG (2 servers node)
Backup exec works perfectly (backup executes perfectly)
Archiving option for Exchange Mail isn't working.
When i create an Archive Job i get the following error "System Mailbox validation failed for mailbox xxxxx@xxxx.xxx and server XXXX"
Any idea how to fix the problem?

NOTE:
- the service account is Administrator on Backup Exec server and both Exchange servers
- i created 2 system mailboxes (one for each exchange server) and both account have all permissions required (administrators also of Exchange server)
- i run the script as described in Backup Exec Admin guide for both system mailboxes and gave the Send As permission to Service account for both system mailboxes.

Creating a Reporting data base for backup exec 12.5

Im new with the backup world and im task to create a reporting data base for our backup servers.
Currently we are using Backup exec 12.5 and 10D. so far i have manage to trace the directory where the backup exec keeps its job history, and right now im trying to figure how would i integrate it to MySQL and i really appreciate if our gurus give me a step by step procedure.

Can't recover (SDR) Backup Exec 2012 media server to itself
I need a solution
I need to move my server (OS with Backup Exec) to the local hard drive. Now it boot from lun in SAN storage.
But when I boot from SDR Recovery disk I see only old backup set's. (only 7-01-2013 and earlier)
Also I noticed that it connected with trial licence exparation for Application and Databases (it was installed but not licensed, other licenses we have) - Local SQL instance of BEDB stoped to backup exactly 7-01-2013.
On other case, I have a folder in my Disk Storege for backups with folder named SDR (D:\SDR) with DR file last changed 8-01-2013 (on 0-15 o'clock - just when 7-01-2013 backup is finished).
So what is the problem?
My full backup's are good with SDR file that updated in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\sdr\Data and a try to select it during SDR.
Only warning of backups is - Failed to load the configuration xml file. C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Catalogs\MediaServerName\CatalogProcessTemporaryFolder\{D1FB4EB5-09DA-461F-9EA5-8FC66B374E5D}\p2v.xml
(http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...), but it is a known issue and connected with a SAN Storage attached.

Backup Exec 2012 Tape drive Issues
I need a solution
Hi folks, we're using BUE2012 in our production and test environments, in our test environment, we keep running into the same issue again, and again, and again. We never had this problem previously and cannot determine what the cause is!
We have BUE2012 running with an IBM LTO4 Tape drive, an Ultrium -TD4. We are using the Symantec drivers and the drive is up to date on firmware.
We CANNOT for love, nor money, perform a successful catalog operation on a tape. for example:
Following a TN and other advice on this website, we removed the Catalogs folder and using 2 of our full backup tapes, we tried to inventory and catalog the tapes to preform a test restore. The tapes wouldn't catalog. At some point during the operation the Drive would be marked as offline. If you onlined it, it'd offline itself again. rinse Repeat.
This machine is used for nothing else, BUE is the only program that would be commanding the drive. Initially it happened when you tried ANYTHING tape related. We then discovered the Symantec drivers were not being used - installed those, removed the old catalogs incase they were corrupt and got 2 fresh full backup tapes to catalog and try a restore. No luck.
One tape finished that contained ~500GB of data but the full tape stopped after 1300GB/1600GB - a frustrating waste of 3 hours!

Backup Exec 2012 not writing to destined tapes in Media sets
I need a solution
Hi
I am trying to backup VDRs of vCenter servers 5.0 and Windows (File server) through Backup Exec 2012, initially i have couple of tapes in scratch media set and i created 2 different Meida sets and moved these tapes from Scratch Media set to the New Media sets X & Y.
When i created 2 Backup jobs A & B assigned to Media sets X & Y as destinations, i did run a test run which was successful, but later on when it ran the actual backup it didn't run backup to the destined tapes in the destined Media sets defined and it did ran backups but to different Media sets and tapes which are not defined in the new backup jobs.
I got this verified looking at the job logs.
Can someone please help me in this, why its running to backups to the destined tapes in the relevant Media sets.

BE 2012 not usable
I need a solution
Hello,
instead of using templates you need to group the servers to change something like starttime of more than one job. if you select more than just a few (3 -5) servers, the interface stops responding. Screenshots are attached.
This version is for me the worst version from BE ever!! The old interface wasn't intuitive but at least IT WORKED!!!!
a little summary:
- memory problems
- sp1 -> BIG problems
-SP1a -> Still no usable interface
Environment:
- fresh installed Win 2k8R2 SP1
- BE 2012 SP1a with all Hotfixes available
- 8 GB RAM

BE2012 - Symantec removed incremental Backup features in current relase, will it work in next release?
I need a solution
Symantec removed the option to backup data incremental by the use of the archive bit.
The only option for incremental backup seems to use the microsoft change journal of the files.
And if this is not working properly the customer must live the crippled product till the next release.
Most of the incremental backups are copying the full amount of data, even if there is no change at all.
Has anyone seen a solution?

Backup up SQL Server on member server protected by firewall

I have a network with an SBS 2011 Standard server running backup exec 2012 SBE.
I also have a member server running server 2008 and sql server.
I have bought the agent to be able to backup the sql server.
The Sql server is protected internally by a hardware firewall and i need to know what ports to forward to allow backup exec to install and backup the server.

I need a solution
Hi,
Working on upgrading our backup Exec servers from 2010 to 2012 at 3 different sites. I was able to complete the first site media server and agents but it took all day. What I am wondering is, Can I update the Media serve to 2012 and then take my time updating each agent server? Will my jobs still run if the agent is 2010 and media server 2012?
This is not something that I plan to make long term, I just need a way to keep up on this project while completing other tasks.

Error relating to Virtual File Filter Driver
I need a solution
Hi Folks,
I am running Backup Exec 2010 R2 Version 13.0 Rev. 4164 (32-bit). I have the Exchange Server Agent installed (for our Exchange 2007 environment).
I am trying to restore a mailbox database from a couple of months ago and am firstly creating a duplicate backup set as per the instructions in this article: -
When I run this job I get an error stating "For this operation the Backup Exec Virtual File Filter (VFF) driver must be installed on the media server" - see attached.
When I run FLTMC from the command-line there is no "VirtFile" file on the media server. I have tried reinstalling the Exchange Agent but this did not work.
Any ideas?

Restoring VM - Access Denied

Hello guys,
Please could you help me with a Bexec issue that´s driving me crazy?
I have a Bexec 2010 R3, installed in a WIN 2008 R2 Standard enviroment.
All the backup process are working ok.
My problem is about a virtual machine restoration.
When I try to restore a VM the Bexec returns the following error:
The logon account that was provided does not have valid credentials.Ensure that the user name and password are correct, and then try again.
I don´t know what to do anymore. I'm troubleshooting that for 5 days without success.
The steps that I have done:

I recreated the logon accounts too.
I have another BE server and the restore process is working. So I tried to copy the logon account but the issue persists.
There´s no issue regarding authentication because on "Resource Credentials" I tested the account and the result was sucessfull.
That´s it. I will appreciate some help about that.
