Hi,

I'm running Backup Exec 2012 v14.0 Rev. 1798 and for some reason I got this one monthly full backup job that is always failing with the error code E000FE36.

After it failed, it then resumed again as I post this thread.

Here's the error message code V-79-57344-65078:BE.JPG

Upon browsing to the directory that was mentioned above, it is still exists and already there. no one deleting or modified the directory in the same server where BE 2012 is running.

See the directory properties below, it is created long time ago:

I need a solution

Hi,

Since current servers will be migrated from Win 2003 to Win 2008 / Win 2008 R2.

1) Is BE 2010 agent support Win 2008 (on VM) and Win 2008 R2 (on physical machine) ?

2) Can I copy BE agent source directly from BE backup server to traget machine for instllation ?

3) Is path "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS32" and "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Agents\RAWS64" ?

4) Just power off old mahince, then change hostname / IP same as old machine then install agent << Is this procedure work ?

Thanks !!

Backup Exec 2010/Dell RD-1000 Drive Issue

I need a solution

Hi,

I've connected a Dell RD-1000 Drive via USB to a server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard), which I'm having problems with it being recognised/picked up within Backup Exec 2010.

I've downloaded and installed the correct drivers for this tape drive and the actual server recognises it without a problem (it's assigned as a removal disk to the G drive).

When I go to the 'Devices' tab within Backup Exec and select 'Add Device', it says no other devices were found.

Let me know if you need anymore information, but I'm thinking maybe this hardware doesn't work with Backup Exec 2010..?

Hi,

Anybody know when IBM OS 1.5 for Storwize V7000 will be supported on Symantec BE 2014 with NDMP Option?

Last HCL indicate juste IBM OS 1.4 was tested and "IBM OS 1.5 is not supported yet and will not work yet."

Thanks for your replies,

Backup Exec Agent 2010 R2 with Backup Exec 2012

I need a solution

Hi,

based on this article i have a question in generally:

https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/age...

We still use two different Backup-Exec Versions (2010 R2 and 2012 Version 14.0) on two different servers.

Now we want´s to move existing Backups for some servers with 2010 R2 Agent to the BE 2012-Server.

In generally, is this possible?

Is it still possible to use servers with upgraded to BE Agent 2012 with the old BE 2010 Backup Solution?

Thanks in advance

Eric

I need a solution

Hi,

we still have two BE 2012 in use, but one of this is only in standby!

So, i will check to do some crash scenarios with the standby Backup Server.

I have a backup from the complete productive Backup-Server, made with BE 2012 by it´s own and this backup-files are located on the standby Backup Server  also with BE2012 installed. Files are in BKF-Format!

So, now what i want´s to do:

1.) Using BE2012 on the standby-backup-server to restore database, catalog and what is also still needed

2.) Follow these manual:http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH129826&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1302592176143

My questions:

a.) is it possible to restore the backups made by the productive Backup Server with the BE2012 on standby Backup Server?

b.) are the backuped Databases and all other needed files still in consistent conditions to can do mycrash scenario?

Thanks and regards

Eric

Log files filling up C: drive

I need a solution

I have log files that have been generating since April 2014 at about 8-12 a day all being about 20MB. After 9 months they have almost completely filled my C: drive. They are located in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs folder. I do not see anywhere that logging is turned on within BackupExec. I would like to delete these files if they are not needed and also stop them from generating. There was one day that generated over 100 log files at 20MB each counting for over 2GB. Currently there is over 340GB space for these logs used.

Backup Exec 2010 R3, tap error "Physical Volume Library Drive or Robot paused, offline, or disabled." and goes offline.

I need a solution

We are having a server which has "Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard - Service pack 1" 64-bit OS installed.

We are using "Symantec Backup Exec 2010 R3" to take the backup on the Tapes. Earlier, we were using a Tandberg lto3 tape drive, and when it kept asking for head cleaning, we bought a used "HP LTO Ultrium-3" tape drive, regulatory model BRSLA-0401-DC and model: Q1538A.

The HP Drive is showing in the device manger under the "Tape drives". In Backup Exec also, it is showing under the Devices. But, when we run the inventory it is giving following error
"Physical Volume Library Drive or Robot paused, offline, or disabled." And the drive goes offline.

We have a single internal tape drive but still getting this error. I have tried the following,

-        installed HP as well as Symantec drivers

-        Tried 3 different SCSI cards (Adaptec 29320, 29160)

-        Tried 3 different SCSI cables

-        Different Tapes – Maxell and HP brand

-        Two different HP LTO Ultrium 3 drives

And, of course, restarted the server many times but it is always the same behavior.

We have run the "Symantec Backup Exec Support tool". It has shown the following error

Issue: Have hardware errors been logged by Windows?
Overview: Checks the Windows Event Logs for Hardware errors.

Event id: 11
Event: adpu320
Description: The driver detected a controller error on \Device\RaidPort1.

I can’t think of anything else and would appreciate any insight.

Maximize Tape Utilization in Backup Exec 2014 - DELL PV 124T (LTO5)

I need a solution

Hi,

I have noticed for one of our newer BE servers that tapes aren't being fully utilized.

LT00006 - used from Dec 19 to Dec 27 (983GB out of 1.39TB)

LT00007 - used from Dec 29 to Jan 6 (630GB out of 1.39TB)

LT00008 - used from Jan 5 to present (365GB out of 1.39TB)

How can I make sure that tapes get full first before the backup jobs move on to the next blank tape?

This is a DELL Powervault 124T with only 1 Tape drive and 16 tape slots.

I need a solution

Bonjour

nous vendons Backupexec pour de petites structures et ce même depuis l'époque "veritas"...

cepandant ces derniers temps nous rencontrons de plus en plus de problèmes sur avec les nouvelles infrastructures

Donc nous achetions jusqu'à présent BE 2014 SBE

on regrette windows server sbs maintenant on regrette symantec...

Merci de fournir une VRAI solution pour les petite structures ou l'on achete UNE licence et basta

I need a solution

We have recently decided to switch from a tape based backup plan that used a new tape for a full backup daily. We are looking to swap to external SSD's doing a weekly full and a daily incremental. Swapping out drives weekly. My question is can I set this up in a way that puts the full backups in one folder that only overwrites during the next full job and the incrementals in another so that the incrementals dont overwrite the weekly full but overwrite themselves. I hope that makes sense.

I think I can do this by creating the jobs and then creating a policy but I am not sure.

Any help would be great.

BE2014 "CatError_servername.log" file is large

I need a solution

I have stumbled aroung the Interweb for a while but can't seem to find a good answer so I am posting here.

We have a BackupExec 2014 server that is running a bit low on C: drive space. With some searching I have found the following file: "C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\Logs\Catalog\CatError_BACKUPSVR.log", to be at 7.6GB. Is this a file that I can move or delete from C: to recover disk space? There are other files in that folder as well with names like "CatLog_Audit_SQL_BACKUPSVR_Longstringofnumbers" and "CatLog_SQL_BACKUPSVR_Longstringofnumbers", but all of those show as 0KB.

Thanks!

Mike
